Know the Symptoms
Scientists have started to consider over exercising as an activity disorder that can be manifestation of some psychological factors triggering the mind and body to work out more than necessary. While in complex medical conditions like bulimia nervosa, over exercising is generally a commonly found symptom, however, it may not be the case for everyone.
It is believed that urge to over exercising stems in part to some anxiety and uneasiness of being over weight or obese. In some cases, beginners in gyms and health fitness clubs become over excited about their body building regimes and hence they may end up over exercising. Symptoms of over exercise includes:
- Increased incidence of muscle injuries
- Muscle cramps and soreness are in more often
- Decreased performance
- Loss of coordination
- Headaches
- Prolonged recovery
- Elevated morning heart rate
- Elevated resting blood pressure
- Loss of appetite
- Disturbed sleep patterns
Although, there can be various reasons for someone to be involved in over exercising, it has to be understood that in the long run over exercising can be disastrous for an individual's health. It's a well-known fact that 'excess of anything is injurious' and hence, over exercising must be avoided at all costs as that can cause various complications. People who over exercise due to psychological problems like body image disorders have been easily cured after counseling. Some others who have medical problems like anorexia nervosa can be taken to medical expert. Over exercising must be replaced by healthy diet and normal exercising, as these are keys to holistic well-being.
